The best time for bargains by the box comes late Saturday afternoon.
Soon afterwards, Boston Haymarket will become a scene right out of 'Soilent Green' as clean up begins, and the bulldozers descends upon the stragglers.
In foul weather, the stuff is so cheap that the Huxters all but throw it at you in anger!
I bring a wheelchair and a roll of duct tape, and load up!
But who in their right minds wants to lug boxes of produce all home by T?! The trick is to coordinate with with a car owner to drop off the shopper(s) and return for retrieval half an hour later. The problem is over eager Meter Maids liable to ticket for so much as stepping on the brake peddle! (And who else remembers those halcyon days before the Big Dig when they actually permitted parking on the highway ramp?)

- Is there, perhaps, a street corner a block or two away, for a safe rendezvous for the driver to retrieve the shopper(s) and produce?
